ONLINE PARENT CONSULTATION BOOKINGS (Y1-6)

I am really sorry that our online booking system for parent consultation did not work last week. Thank you to all the parents who were very understanding and coped well with reverting to the tried and trusted system at very short notice! We are trying to iron out the wrinkles in the system and will try again with it in the spring term-‘if at first you don’t succeed…’ Thank you for your patience and understanding.

BE BRIGHT BE SEEN DAY-Friday 17th November

Nights are drawing in and mornings are getter darker so we are thinking about making sure we are seen easily especially by car drivers. Children and staff can wear their brightest clothes to school on Friday 17th November-including bright trainers/shoes. So dig out your brightest clothes-if you have anything fluorescent even better! Let’s make a big splash of colour together.

Christmas Fair News

Our Christmas Fair planning team are full speed ahead in planning this year’s fair on 8th December 3:30-6:30! We are now able to accept your donations in preparation for the fair so please start to bring in the following items:

-          TOYS – including soft toys, games and/or general toys

-          PRESENTS – we will have a ‘Present Room’ for the children to go in and pick out a present for an adult in their life, whether it be their parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle etc. They will have the opportunity to wrap the present (with our helpers) to give as a gift during the holidays. These presents can be candles, picture frames, mugs, boxes of chocolate etc.

-          CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS – we will be trying our very best to make the school feel as magical as possible and will need quite a few Christmas decorations to do so. Deadline for Decoration donations is Friday 10th November

Thank you to everyone who has given their address for an estate agent sign to advertise the Christmas Fair. We are happy to announce that we have reached our target number of 50! Thank you to Waterfield Brooke for sponsoring our fair again.

Finally we are continuously on the lookout for raffle prizes. Please be in touch if you can help. And as always if you would like to contact FOMS for any reason, please email us at FriendsofMonkfrithSchool@gmail.com

All the best,

The FOMS Committee

BOOK FAIR-NEXT WEEK

We will be running a Book Fair in our new library from Tuesday 14th until Friday 17th November from 3.20 p.m. Please use the door next to the pond area on the top playground to enter and leave the Book Fair. The children brought home a flyer before the holidays showing some of the titles available to buy but there are lots more available so do come along.

PLEASE NOTE- no Tae Kwando or football club on Friday 8th December

This is because the hall and dining room will be in use for the Christmas Fair after school.

After School Club will run in the EYFS rooms and children will need to be collected from the EYFS entrance which is accessed by the gate near the woods at the bottom of Knoll Drive.

WATERAID

Thanks for your support for Wateraid- we raised a fantastic £657-50.  Thank you so much for your support for such a great cause.

INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS FOR SPRING TERM 2018

If you would like your child to start individual lessons at school, please visit the beatrust.org.uk website to book them up. The deadline for booking lessons for next term is Monday 4th December.

Group recorder lessons can be booked via the school office. If any parents need advice and would like to talk to one of the music teachers at school, they should leave a message at the school office. The school currently offers recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano and trumpet.

Best wishes Rita Porzi (Barnet Education Arts Trust)

RECORDER CONCERT

Miss Porzi’s recorder students will be performing on Monday 4th December at 2.30 p.m.

WOODWIND CONCERT

Miss Porzi’s woodwind students will be performing on Friday 8th December at 9.00 a.m.

Parents, family and friends are very welcome to come to the performances in the hall.

INDIVIDUAL PHOTOGRAPHS

Apologies for not letting you know that individual photographs were happening on Friday, an oversight on my part.

The children, as always, were fantastic and extremely photogenic.  Some children were absent on Friday so there may be an opportunity to retake a few photos. The photographers will let us know if they have availability.

BARNET SEND PARENT/CARERS DROP IN SESSIONS

The Specialist Inclusion Services and Educational Psychology Team are facilitating ‘Parent/Carer Drop-In’ sessions

along with the pre-school teaching and NHS SALT teams. These sessions are free sessions, although they must be

booked in advance (based on a ‘first come – first allocated’ approach).  They are available for parents/carers of

Barnet children and young people (0-25), to share any concerns or issues on a 1:1 basis with a relevant professional. It is a stand-alone session, so this means that there is no follow-up.  The aim of this session is to provide Barnet parents/carers with an opportunity to

discuss concerns, and collectively think through how to move forward with the situation.

To access the sessions parents/carers must book a place, utilising the contact details in the attached flyer and

return to SENDevents@barnet.gov.uk

Macintosh HD:Users:jeanetteadak:Desktop:IMG_0886.jpegCOMPLAINT FROM MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC

I was very upset to receive a complaint from a member of the public about one of our parents last week. The parent had parked unsafely very close to the bend at the top of Parkside Gardens making it awkward for other drivers to see round the bend. An elderly driver pointed this out to the parent and was responded to very aggressively and with abusive language. This was witnessed and reported by several other parents. This behaviour is disgraceful and damages our school’s reputation within the community. The behaviour of our children is always exemplary in and out of school and is always commented on for the right reasons. Please don’t make your child ashamed of you by behaving in such a way.

I do have the registration number of the car beginning EK1---- but I’m sure someone out there already recognises the car and I hope is feeling ashamed.
