FINAL FOOTBALL MATCH REPORT

As our Monkfrith Football team won their league, on 18th May, they travelled to Coppetts Wood School to play St Mary's EN4 in the Barnet Small School's league final. It was a great match and the boy's played with fantastic skills throughout. Both the referee and spectators commented on our teamwork and creative play.  At half time, the score was tied, 1-1 and we looked the stronger team. St Mary's scored to make it 1-2. We were confident to come back and the boys looked strong and determined to score. We hit the post twice and we hit the bar but unfortunately it wasn't our day and St Mary's won. Despite the loss, we are so proud of their achievement. Congratulations to Max, who strongly deserved ‘players' player’ in their final match with Monkfrith School. We wish all the players all the best in the future and hope they continue to play football.

FOMS News

Summer Fair – Saturday 16th June 12-3pm

Please see last page of the newsletter for ways you can help.

The summer fair is fast approaching. As FOMS have agreed to match fund a £10,000 grant that was recently awarded to the school to build an incredible sensory trail for our children, the Summer Fair is a big push for FOMS to raise the money for the match funding. The FOMS committee are of course committed to organising a great event but we still need help from the wider parent and carer community now more than ever to make the Summer Fair a huge success. Below are some dates and call outs for help in the run up to the fair (THANK YOU!):

1.      There will be two ‘Working Coffee Mornings’ to prepare for the fair on Friday 8th June and Friday 15th June. We very much hope you can come along.

2.      Set up for the Fair – Friday Night 15th June, and early Saturday morning on the 16th. We will be at school from 8am to set up and need as many people as possible that morning.

3.      Fair clean up after 3pm on Saturday 16th June.

4.      We will need many people to run the stalls on the day. If you can set aside one hour of your time during the fair the run a stall, please do! Stall sign-up sheets will go out to each class of parents approximately 2 weeks before the fair, but we may have more stalls than there are classes so the more parents/carers/grandparents we have, the better!

Donations for Summer Fair

FOMS will be looking for the following donations for the Summer Fair to help support a number of different stalls on the day. Please can you begin to gather these items now in preparation:

1.      Soft Toys for the Teddy Tombola

2.      Jars of pre-wrapped sweets for the Sweetie Tombola

3.      Toys for our Toy Sale Stall (no books please)

BBQ Donation Wanted!

FOMS are looking for a BBQ for the Summer Fair. If anyone has an old one they are happy to part with, we would be very grateful! Please email friendsofmonkfrithschool@gmail.com if you can help.

BBQ Meat Wanted

Last year, someone was able to donate the meat for our BBQ which otherwise would have been a big expense. Unfortunately, this has not been possible again this year. If anyone can help source meat and pittas for the BBQ at the Summer Fair at a discounted rate, please get in touch!

As always, if you would like to get in touch with FOMS for any reason, especially if you would like to find out ways to get more involved in planning the Summer Fair, please either talk to your class reps, or email friendsofmonkfrithschool@gmail.com

THANK YOU!

A huge ‘thank you’ to Irmak (3C) Sean W (3C) and Ege (1K) for having a stall outside of Irmak's house last weekend, selling homemade cookies, cakes and lemonade. They raised £175.50 to go towards the Summer Fair. How wonderful is that? We were all very moved by their gesture.

Thank you.
