SCOOTERS

Please note that scooters cannot be left in the office reception area as this causes an obstruction. If the bottom gate is closed and your child has to come into school through the Knoll Drive entrance, please take the scooter home with you.  Better still-be on time and put the scooter in the cycle shed! Thank you.

We have had several complaints over the last few days about parents parking across our neighbours’ driveways. The car in the photo was reported by a neighbour and I have the reg number, which I will put in the newsletter, if it is reported to be parked across a drive again. Please do not do this, even if it is ‘just for a minute’ -as we all know nothing ever takes a minute! Our neighbours were very understanding about the disruption caused by our building work,  please don’t upset them by parking inconsiderately. Thank you.

ADMISSION TO RECEPTION CLASSES 2018/19

If your child will be 5 years old between September 2018 and August 2019, you need to apply for a Reception school place between now and Monday 15th January 2018. All applications should be made online at www.eadmissions.org.uk.  Paper application forms will not be available.  I recommend that parents download a copy of the booklet ‘A Guide to Primary Education in Barnet 2018’ from www.barnet.gov.uk/schooladmissions before beginning their application. If you need any help filling the application in, I am very happy to help, just let the office know.

Please let the office know if your child has a sibling that should be starting in our new Reception classes in September 2018. Thank you.

HIGH FIVE CLUB- High Five club starts tomorrow for Y6 members and runs from 3.30-4.30 p.m. Children can be collected from the main entrance at 4.30 p.m. Please make sure Miss Douglas knows if your child is an independent traveller and will be walking home by themselves or with a group of friends.

TRIPS THIS TERM

Wednesday 4th October-Friday 6th October: Y5 to Kingswood Centre in Kent.

WELLIES FOR RECEPTION CLASSES

If you have any wellies in small sizes at home that you no longer need, Reception would love them for their digging area. Many thanks.

We also need some house bricks/ breeze blocks for the Reception outside area. If you have any spares, we would be very grateful.

ANY BUILDERS/DIY ENTHUSIASTS OUT THERE?

We need a level concrete base laying for a new FOMs shed and we also need some willing volunteers to put the shed together! It would have to be a weekend venture and we can offer bacon/ sausage butties, plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits as an incentive! Please let me know if you could help. Thanks in anticipation!

THE PLAYING SPACE (Thursday lunchtime drama club)

There are some spaces in KS2 (Year 3 to 6) drama club run by The Playing Space. This term's theme will be the classic tale of ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’.  Each session will consist of movement, communication and imagination games and activities. Children will step into this wonderful story, fall into the chocolate lake, blow up like a blueberry, battle with squirrels and have lots of fun!

Drama Club runs on Thursday lunchtimes, starting 28th September. There will be 10 sessions in all, with a presentation to friends and family during the last class on 7th December. The cost will be £60 per child for the 10 week course (sibling discount available). If you want your child to attend then please contact Jennie (theplayingspace@me.com) as soon as possible with your child’s name and year group.

YEAR 2 AND 3 PARENTS

Please check book bags for a letter regarding an opportunity for children to take part in the filming of an advertisement. Casting interviews will take place on Thursday this week. If you are interested in your child being considered, slips need to be back in school by Wednesday.
