SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Class

Week ending:

19 .1.18

Please note any children arriving in school after 9.15 a.m. will be marked in the

register as an ‘unauthorised absence’.

This may then trigger a meeting with the school’s Educational Social Worker (ESW)

to discuss punctuality.

Well done to 1K, 2S, Y4 and Y6 for great attendance last week.

We are still struggling with illness across the school. I know it is sometimes difficult to know when children are ready to come back to school after illness but do send them back when you feel they can cope with a full day without any help i.e. Calpol!

We find the effects of that wonderful medicine usually wear off about 10.30 a.m. and children who are not properly better then start to feel poorly again.

MAN IN BLUE VAN BEHAVING IN A SUSPICIOUS MANNER

You may remember that there was an incident reported near Church Hill School (before the Christmas break) of a man in a blue van loitering around the school. The police have been looking for this man since then and I am very pleased to say they have now found him and have taken him in for questioning. He was spotted behaving suspiciously again by a member of the public who took his registration number and reported him to the police who picked him up immediately.

We all need to be vigilant and if you see anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, please report it to us or to the police. Most of the time there are very innocent explanations but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

LEVEL 1 BIKEABILITY TRAINING

We have been offered a free course, run with the London Borough of Barnet and Cycle Confident.  It is open to children in Year 3 and 4 who have a bike and would like to take part (and have not done it previously).  Over the two days they will learn some of the basics of safe cycling.  The training will be run by qualified instructors in the school playground.  There are lots of places available but will be offered on a first come, first served basis.  If you would like your child to take part and they have a bike, please contact the office to be placed on the list.

Details about dates will be provided if we have enough names on the list.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS APPLICATIONS

We are updating our Free School Meals register and need to have current information for any family eligible for free meals (even if your child/ren have packed lunch or receive a free meal under the Government’s Universal Free Meals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils).
