SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Class

Week ending:

7.7.17

Please note any children arriving in school after 9.15 a.m. will be marked in the register as an ‘unauthorised absence’. This may then trigger a meeting with the school’s Educational Social Worker (ESW) to discuss punctuality.

PARENTPAY FROM SEPTEMBER

As you know we will be going ‘cashless’ from September so please don’t send any cash or cheques into school when we come back in September. In the first week of the new term we will send out your login details and you will be able to access your online account to make payments. You will then be able to pay dinner money, After School/ Breakfast Club, trips etc online. Parents who aren’t able to pay online will be able to use cash at Paypoints in local shops/post offices.  I’m sure this new system will make payments to school much safer and more straightforward for parents. If you have any difficulties or need some support in September, please contact Zoe Hart in the main office.

CHANGING TO OR FROM SCHOOL DINNERS IN SEPTEMBER

Please let us know by Friday 14th July if you wish your child to change to or from school dinners in September.

CAN YOU LET US KNOW BY EMAIL OR TEXT. Thank you.

PAYMENT FOR MEALS

We have been informed by the catering service that if children have been marked in for lunch but they do not then use that lunch, parents will still be charged e.g. if a child was supposed to have lunch following an appointment but didn’t return to school or are sent home sick. This is a change to the way it has been done previously where it was possible to adjust numbers. Please bear this in mind when booking appointments.

NO HAT / NO PLAY

All children need a hat in school at all times until the end of term. They will not be allowed out to play unless they are wearing a hat when it is sunny and hot. It’s best to send in a hat and leave it in school rather than take it home and bring it back every day-that’s when they get forgotten. Please make sure all hats are named, thank you.

LAST KEY STAGE 2 CHOIR FOR THIS YEAR-Thursday 13th July (Please try and attend the last session)

The first choir session for next term will be Thursday 7th September at 8.15 a.m. The first session will be a ‘try out’ for any new members and they should just come along to the hall. We look forward to seeing all our existing members as well, apart from our departing Year 6 voices-we will miss them, their enthusiasm and their lovely voices!

ATTAINMENT AND PROGRESS

I thought it might be helpful to remind you of the different teacher assessment judgements you may see on your child’s report.

Children who are Emerging are able to access the lessons in class and may be able to complete tasks but with the support of an adult.

Children who are Developing are able to access lessons, understand the objectives being delivered and remember what they have learnt but need more practice before they feel confident.

Children who are Secure are confident in applying their understanding independently.

Children who are working at Greater Depth will be confident using and applying a range of objectives independently and with greater understanding.

FOMS NEWS

Dear All,

The FOMS committee are delighted to announce that we made £6401.37 profit from this year's summer fair.  Thank you so much to everyone who generously donated items, food, and their time to make the fair so successful.  Thank you too, to everyone who came along to the fair and spent some money! We think that the amount raised was fantastic and will benefit all of our children at Monkfrith.

We'd like to pass on special thanks to Jay (Kiaan's mum 1D) who secured match funding with her employer HSBC.  This really boosted our profit and we really appreciate her efforts in securing this money for the school.

With best wishes,
FOMS committee

PARENT FORUM-Tuesday 11th July 9.00-9.30 a.m. Dining Room

We will be holding a Parent Forum tomorrow, followed by a guided tour of the new parts of our building. Y6 students will be the guides and are very excited about showing off our lovely new spaces.  Parent forum is your opportunity to come along and share your ideas or ask any questions you may have about school life. Specific questions you may have about your child, should be dealt with by speaking to your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

We will be inviting our neighbours to have a guided tour as well, whilst we are holding our forum meeting.

NSPCC DANCE A THON

Thank you so much for supporting the NSPCC Dance-a-thon. The children raised almost £800, what a fantastic effort!

We can still accept sponsor forms and money up until Friday, so please do keep sending them in.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB PRICE RISE FROM SEPTEMBER 2017

The price of After School Club will rise to £8.00 per session (£7.00 for siblings) from the start of the new term in September. Breakfast Club price per session will remain the same.

BOOK BAGS IN Y5

Children moving into Y5 in September are expected to bring Monkfrith book-bags to school not backpacks or any other sort of shoulder bag. Only Y6 are allowed to bring a back pack/shoulder bag on a daily basis and a pencil case (if they wish) in preparation for secondary school.
