WELCOME TO OUR NEW RECEPTION CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

By Thursday, we will have welcomed all of our new reception children to Monkfrith.

ADMISSION TO RECEPTION CLASSES 2018/19

If your child will be 5 years old between September 2018 and August 2019, you need to apply for a Reception school place between now and Monday 15th January. All applications should be made on line at www.eadmissions.org.uk.  Paper application forms will not be available.  I recommend that parents download a copy of the booklet ‘A Guide to Primary Education in Barnet 2018’ from www.barnet.gov.uk/schooladmissions before beginning their application. If you need any help filling the application in, I am very happy to help, just let the office know.

Please let the office know if your child should be starting in our new Reception classes in September 2018. Thank you.

HIGH FIVE CLUB- High Five club will start on Tuesday 26th September for Y6 members and runs from 3.30-4.30 p.m. Children can be collected from the main entrance at 4.30 p.m. Please make sure Miss Douglas knows if your child is an independent traveller and will be walking home by themselves or with a group of friends.

BALLET CLUB-Ballet Club will start at 8-8.45am tomorrow for Years 5 & 6, Wednesday 20 September for Years 1 & 2 and on Friday 22 September for Years 3 & 4. We have a few spaces on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, please contact me for a free trial class: 07789605166 or aniko@dancershealth.com

PARENTPAY

Most parents have managed to login to their Parentpay account now and have been using it. We hope to have After School/Breakfast club payments set up by the end of the week-thanks for your patience! If anyone is having difficulties with accessing the system or haven’t received their log-in details, please let Zoe in the office know.

TEXTS/EMAILS RECEIVED

Please note that the office will not reply to texts and emails received from parents asking for information that has already been provided by means of the weekly newsletter, trip letters or the school website.

CUT OFF TIME FOR BOOKING INTO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

Just a reminder that the cut off time for booking your child into After School Club for an ‘as and when’ slot on the day is 1.00 p.m. Children cannot be accepted after this time as the staffing has already been arranged.

TRIPS THIS TERM

Wednesday 4th October-Friday 6th October: Y5 to Kingswood Centre in Kent.

WELLIES FOR RECEPTION CLASSES

If you have any wellies in small sizes at home that you no longer need, Reception would love them for their digging area. Many thanks.

We also need some house bricks/ breeze blocks for the Reception outside area. If you have any spares, we would be very grateful.

TUESDAY LUNCH-TIME DANCE CLUB

We have space in Tuesday dance club for a few new members from Years 4, 5 or 6. If your child is interested in joining the club, they should come along tomorrow for a ‘try out’. If they then wish to come along for the rest of the term the cost will be £20, payable through Parentpay or cash.

MACMILLAN BIG COFFEE MORNING-Friday 29th September

Would any parents be interested in running the Macmillan Coffee Morning this year? We would like to hold it as we normally do, but need some help to organise it. Please let me know if you would like to help. Thank you.

ANY BUILDERS/DIY ENTHUSIASTS OUT THERE?

We need a level concrete base laying for a new FOMs shed and we also need some willing volunteers to put the shed together! It would have to be a weekend venture and we can offer bacon/ sausage butties, plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits as an incentive! Please let me know if you could help. Thanks in anticipation!

THE PLAYING SPACE (Thursday lunchtime drama club)

There are some spaces in KS2 (Year 3 to 6) drama club run by The Playing Space. This term's theme will be the classic tale of ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’.  Each session will consist of movement, communication and imagination games and activities. Children will step into this wonderful story, fall into the chocolate lake, blow up like a blueberry, battle with squirrels and have lots of fun!

Drama Club runs on Thursday lunchtimes, starting 28th September. There will be 10 sessions in all, with a presentation to friends and family during the last class on 7th December. The cost will be £60 per child for the 10 week course (sibling discount available). If you want your child to attend then please contact Jennie (theplayingspace@me.com) as soon as possible with your child’s name and year group.
