OFFICE EMAIL (office@monkfrithschool.co.uk)

From now on, please use the email at the top of the newsletter to report absences or send notes to the office. Thank you.

SAFE AND CONSIDERATE PARKING

Please do not park on the corner of Cedar Rise and Knoll Drive at drop off or pick up. Parents that do, are parking on the dropped kerb and preventing parents and children being able to cross safely. I am very concerned that there is going to be an accident. Please do not be selfish, park further away or even better..WALK!

DANCE FESTIVAL TICKETS/PERMISSION SLIPS

The closing date for receiving slips for Dance club members is today. I have only received half of the dance club’s requests so far. Please return the slip by tomorrow so I can order the tickets. If your request is later than tomorrow I may not be able to secure a ticket for you. If you have asked for extra tickets, I will let you know in due course, if they are available. NB It isn’t possible to buy tickets directly from the theatre on this occasion.

THE MONKFRITH SPRING RAFFLE EXTRAVAGANZA
Do you or a friend / family member have their own business? Can you help us fundraise for our children's playground?  FOMS are planning a big springtime raffle and we are looking for businesses who would be happy to donate a raffle prize.  This could be donations such as a gift card for a service (beautician etc ), a voucher for a restaurant, or an item or voucher from a shop.  If you are able to donate something to help the fundraising for the playground, please do contact us at F.O.M.S@outlook.com, speak to a committee member, or put a note in your child's book bag for the attention of FOMS.  We're looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks and best wishes for 2017,
The FOMS committee

Dear All,

Most of you are probably aware that we hold Ward Panel meetings every three months where ourselves, residents and Ward councillors meet up to discuss issues on the Ward and our strategies for dealing with them.

As part of the Met's drive to increase engagement with residents we will now also be creating a short survey that will be sent out every three months prior to the panel meetings. We know that most of you are busy and unable to attend our meetings so the survey is a good way to nonetheless get you more involved. The survey can be found at the link below and can be completed in three minutes (or less!). If you wish to save time you don’t need to fill in the boxes on the form and can just click the response buttons for questions 2 through to 7.

This is the first one we have created so if you discover any issues with it or have suggestions for future questions please let us know!

Regards,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Barnet council is consulting on changes to the admission arrangements for Barnet community schools. The following changes are being proposed:

  1. To give priority for places to children of teaching staff of the school where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made and will be in employment as a teacher at the school when the child starts school.
  2. To amend the In-Year admission oversubscription criterion, which gives priority to former pupils at the school, restricting this priority to former pupils without a school place that live in the geographical area and have attended the school in the previous 12 months.

The consultation will run until 31 January 2017 and can also be viewed online at https://engage.barnet.gov.uk/

We encourage all parents to express their views by taking part in the online survey
